The most sustainable product you can buy is the one you don’t need. The second most sustainable is the one you only have to buy once.
At Veliso, we don’t claim to be a perfectly green company. Shipping physical goods around the world has a carbon cost, no matter how you package it. What we can do is refuse to participate in the fast-furniture economy.
The trap of the cheap kettle
A £15 kettle from a supermarket will last about 14 months. It will end up in landfill, and you’ll buy another one. A £60 kettle that uses high-grade steel and a repairable heating element might last 10 years.
When you look at the carbon footprint of manufacturing, shipping, and disposing of ten cheap kettles versus one good kettle, the maths is obvious. The “affordable” option is often the most expensive one for the planet.
Our promise
We would rather have a catalogue of 1,200 items that we stand behind than 40,000 items that we don’t. We test everything. If it breaks in a year, we don’t sell it. It’s better for your wallet, and it’s better for the world.
